The location of Fernbank is absolutely fabulous. The house itself is comfortable and clean. There was one thing that was not good at the start of our vacation and that was that there was no bedlinen and towels made up. And we hired this but ok, this can happen. Then we've tried several times to get in touch with the manager by phone and left messages to voicemail. We didn't get any response that night so we had to sleep in the beds with no bedlinen and without any towels to use. The next day finally the cleaning lady came by and gave us the bedlinen and towels. So the problem was solved then. The only thing that really matters to us is that we could not get in touch with the manager at all. We didn't see or spoke to him at all in the whole vacation. We don't think that's what we see as good hospitaly. Hopefully you will improve your service in that way.

Dear Margaret I can only apologise that our service on this occasion fell far below our usual high standards. We had suddenly been called away to Lancashire due to a family emergency, our daughter having been rushed into hospital, and left clear instructions with the Caretaker to supply the bed linen and towels. Obviously this was not done. In normal circumstances we visit our guests to make sure they have everything they need and give them information on things to do in the area but this time were unable to do so. I can only apologise once again. Kind regards Dianne Buckley

Stayed at Fernbank for a 3night break, what a lovely cottage with beautiful veiws towards Skye and the outer Hebrides. Well equipped kitchen everything you need. Double bedroom has a en-suite but doesn't tell you this on the details of the cottage, so this was a nice surprise, also has a bathroom with a bath and shower. Lovely beaches around the area and plenty of walks, only went to the beach, walks will be an other time. Would thoroughly recommend this for the weekend or longer.
Fernbank is located in the traditional crofting village of Melvaig, 10 miles from Gairloch
