A converted fisherman store from years gone by. Now converted into a cosy family home with great views over Avoch harbour and the Moray Firth.

Sleeping 4 guests in 3 bedrooms, this dog friendly holiday home is in a great location for exploring Fortrose, Cromarty and the Black Isle and for accessing the wider Scottish Highlands. Inverness is around a 20 minute drive, there is a regular bus service if travelling without a car.

The property is built into the hillside opposite Avoch Harbour. At the front of the house there is a staircase that leads up to the front door. At the back of the house there is no staircase to access the back door.

First floor 

Lounge/dining area: With views over the harbour and Moray Firth. 3 seat settee and 2 reclining arm chairs. TV with Freeview, DVD player, music unit. There is a selection of games, DVD’s and books. The dining area has a table and 4 chairs.

Kitchen: Compact kitchen with serving hatch through to dining area. The kitchen has an electric cooker, fridge, dishwasher, electric kettle, toaster, microwave, crockery, cookware, cutlery, cutlery, utensils. Views out over the harbour and Moray Firth.

Cloakroom: Toilet with wash hand basin.

Utility room: Washing machine with dryer. Access to back of house with small patio area. The back door has a canopy. The lane from the back door allows walking access to the roadside at the front of the house.

Second floor

Master bedroom: King-size bed, bed side cabinets with lights, built in wardrobes, dressing table with mirror, chest of drawers. Views over the harbour and Moray Firth.

Bedroom2: With views over the harbour and Moray Firth. Single bed, bedside cabinet with light, built in wardrobe, chest of drawers, mirror.

Bedroom3: Single bed, bedside cabinet with light, built in wardrobe, chest of drawers.

Bathroom: Bath with electric shower, toilet and wash hand basin.

The house is warmed by electric night storage and convectors heaters. There is a cot, high chair and stair gate available at no extra charge. There is an ironing board and iron.

1 dog welcome at an additional cost as shown on the online booking form.

All bedding, towels, electricity and Wi-Fi are included.

The house is stocked with a starter supply of washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls and other kitchen and bathroom supplies.

Great views over Avoch Harbour and the Moray Firth.

Pub/Restaurant: Station Hotel – 2 minutes walk

Tours:  Dolphin Trips form Avoch harbour

Chanonry Point is approx. 5 minutes drive – Dolphin watching and sandy beach.

Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf is approx. 10 minutes drive.

There are also several areas for walking, including the Fairy Glen at Rosemarkie.

Inverness which is just a 20 minutes drive has numerous shops, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, bars, banks, etc all within a couple of minutes’ walk of the city centre.

Dolphin Trips Avoch are directly opposite The old Chandelry.

Check in time is anytime after 4pm with check out at 10am.

Cancellation policy – 30% of the total rental is charged on the day of booking to confirm your booking with the final 70% due no later than 6 weeks before arrival. There is a 24-hour cooling off period after your booking is placed where you may cancel free of charge after that you will be required to pay the full rental amount if you cancel.

Cancellation protection policy is available during booking or before the final balance payment is made.

There is an a refundable damage deposit due as part of the final balance as shown on the online booking form.

Security deposit: an amount of £100 will be pre-authorised against the card you pay your final balance 10 days prior to arrival. This will reduce your available balance on your card by £100 for 30 days.

Rate table shows the base weekly rental rates only when the property is only available for weekly bookings. Short breaks may be available and are not shown below.     Family of four, great week here in November. Top class property, very happy. Location is fantastic for access to Inverness and surrounding area. Never too far from anything. Weather was perfect - this area often escapes all the rain! Property very cosy, well equipped, perfect for young family with beach so near (across the road!).

    Le gîte est idéalement situé en face du port. Nous avons eu aucun soucis concernant le bruit, le gîte est très calme, nous avons passé de très bonnes nuits sur un matelas très agréable. L ensemble du gîte est vraiment propre. Il y a vraiment une multitude de services +++++ nous étions en couple mais même plus nombreux nous n hésiterions pas à revenir car le gîte est grand avec deux wc ! Nous avons passé un excellent séjour, nous recommandons sans hésiter !

    We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable and the owner resolved a minor problem very quickly.

    We very much enjoyed our week in The Old Chandlery in Avoch. We were a group of three birdwatching friends and the property was an excellent base for exploring the West coast, Moray Firth and Speyside area. After a booking mix up we ended up with this property - not our first choice but resolved in the end with Gael who were helpful throughout. Property was clean, warm and welcoming and the provision of the basics - loo rolls, washing tablets, a few dishwasher tablets etc was welcome. The storage heaters were very (almost too) efficient so no problems with chilly nights, though we had a fabulous week of weather. Beds were very comfortable and all appliances worked really well. Useful touches like plastic lunch boxes, drying racks and a boot room also helped. All in all a great base for exploring the Highlands.


The Old Chandlery is situated opposite Avoch Harbour near to the fisher town where the close packed streets are a reminder of the days when the fishing boats were hauled into the street to protect them during bad weather. Avoch is located on the Black Isle, approximately 20 minutes North East of Inverness on the Inner Moray Firth. The village is on the regular bus route to Inverness.
