Fishermans cottage is a beautiful cottage with a superb location. The cottage is well styled with a simple streamlined look, really feeling like a Fishermans cottage by the sea with lots of character. Could have been a bit cleaner though, however we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and wouldn't rule out revisiting.

This is a beautifully restored cottage in the old fisher town. It is welcoming and relaxing and a lovely place to spend our 10 days in Cromarty and the welcome bottle of wine and shortbread was very thoughtful. The cottage is generally well equipped but perhaps some of the crockery a bit tired but that would be our only negative comment on an otherwise lovely home. We were also lucky with exceptionally good weather making the whole stay a brilliant holiday. We could have stayed on!!

Everything was great around communication. We have stayed in the house before and it is very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Heating worked very well for us ( the timing settings were fine). The hot water heating was on a schedule we could not understand, and as a result we had two days without showers, because the first time we encountered the issue (we were a party of 4 for a couple of days only) we didn't understand that the water only heats in the morning, and the second time we left early the last day (7 am), and the water had not come on to heat before we left. Might be helpful to add explanations around the hot water heating schedule in the cottage info. We tried pressing the "boost" button on the hot water heating timer, but could not get that to activate. One other small thing was that I found, was one plate in the cupboard at the bottom of the pile, that was dirty/dusty. Not a major inconvenience, but it just seemed a strange thing to find with everything else so nice. Also the bath had some cleaning residue in int on arrival, and needed a good rinse before use. Perhaps that feedback is helpful. We had a great time, it's a great setting, and we hope to be back again next year. Jane and Will.

There were 3 of us staying in this lovely cottage having travelled to Cromarty for a family wedding. An excellent mix of modern facilities while retaining the character of a fisherman's cottage (mind your head if you are tall!) The wood burner meant that we had snug evenings and the bedrooms were extremely comfortable. The location is great - a little bit hidden, but very central. The view of the water down through the opposite row of cottages was an added bonus. We all agreed that we had discovered a bit of a gem and would certainly return when another family occasion calls us back. Just one thing details of taxis would be a useful addition to the otherwise very clear information file for those staying for a short time without a car.

Spent an enjoyable and relaxing week in this attractive cottage in the lovely village of Cromarty. The house is nicely furnished and decorated. Kitchen well equipped; nice selection of comfortable furniture throughout the house; bed very comfortable; generous bathroom and shower. Kitchen is a pleasant spacious room, easy to negotiate and cook in. Comfortable little sofa. Good sized fridge/freezer. Nicely proportioned double bedroom, again very comfortable. The livingroom is dark due to its situation at the rear of the house, however despite this it's a warm and inviting room with adequate and flexible lighting options. A lovely room to read or watch TV in front of the wood-burning stove (wood supplied on arrival). My contact with Jo and Nick the owners was very pleasant and helpful. When I arrived I had a couple of queries which they responded to very quickly. I got a mobile signal from the kitchen window (Vodaphone) though it's better outside the house. Very good wifi signal throughout the house. Plenty of parking on the shore road a couple of minutes' walk from the front door. I have no hesitation in recommending this lovely little house.

Beautifully decorated cottage containing everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Superb location - we loved being within sight of the sea and it was fascinating to see cruise ships and an oil rig passing. A week simply wasn't long enough to explore the area fully; we hope to be back

This is a beautifully presented, comfortable, clutter free cottage - possibly the best holiday let we've stayed in. An initial problem with the hot water system was quickly and effectively responded to by the owners with the minimum of disruption. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to return.

We came for a long weekend to Cromarty, staying once again at Fisherman's Cottage. We love it here, it is our 'home from home', though we would wish to have stayed longer. We've already booked our next visit to Fisherman's, and relish its comfort, simple style and position, with a view of the Firth from the back door.

Absolutely loved this fisherman's cottage by the Cromarty Firth. The weather was good and to wake up each morning and be able to walk out the cottage door and wander along the beach made it a perfect holiday cottage for me. The cottage was to a very good standard with everything we needed and yet still had its traditional charm. The thick walls and modern heating system kept the cottage cosy and warm. We didn't use the log burner. I could quite easily live here. The only difficulty I had was trying to book and pay through 'Holiday Lettings'. When I phoned them put me on hold twice for 15 - 20 mins each time and eventually told me I couldn't book the cottage as it was already booked (yes by me) - I wouldn't use them again. In the end I contacted Gael Holidays direct who sorted everything.

Excellent stay, great location. Very well looked after cottage. The heating didn't switch on until after 7am and not before 6pm. This needs to be readjusted to turn on earlier in the morning and afternoon and stay on longer. The only improvements that could be made would be to add a clothes dryer and also a large drying rack for clothes. Other fantastic stay and will stay again.

This was our third stay in Fishherman's Cottage, which now really feels like a home from home. This year we got married in Cromarty during our holiday, so it was a particularly special time! - lovely, comfortable cottage in a great location. Some great facilities in Cromarty too which add to staying there - we loved the pizza at Sutor's Creek, ice-creams at their sister cafe, the Cheese shop and the delightful Scandi homewares at "Ingrid's House". Let's hope the ferry can be sorted out for next season. Our only niggles were that the heating came on 3 times a day and you are requested not to switch it off. It was actually pretty awful weather so most days this was fine, but on the warmer days it may get a bit much! Also would have liked a couple more things in the kitchen - some oven gloves would be good (we had to buy a pair at the lovely Ingrid's House), some dish cloths and more tea towels would be handy, but overall it is really well equipped and a great kitchen to spend time in. During our stay one of the knobs came off the cooker and the owners were very helpful in sending someone across that day to take a look, which was appreciated.

We arrived late afternoon and it was cool outdoors. Opened the front door and the warmth hit you, it was lovely. Immediately felt at home. A very nice touch was the bottle of wine and shortbread awaiting us. Great care has been taken with the decoration which is in keeping with what you imagine an old Fisherman's cottage would have been. Modern but simple and all good quality. Excellent size bathroom and lovely big shower. Beds were very comfortable and it was very useful having the sink in the main bedroom. Views from the cottage are great, you can see the water. It was good to sit out at the nice big table and chairs and have breakfast and chats to the locals who passed by. The heating came on morning afternoon and evening and the cottage was always nice and warm. The kitchen has everything you need and more and again a nice table to sit at for meals. It is nicely placed to be near everything in the village, but just off the main thoroughfares to keep it nice and quiet. Very pleased we found it and will certainly be back again.

We've just returned from Fishermans Cottage, and can only say that our stay was more than we could have expected! The cottage is finished and equipped to a very high standard, and presented beautifully with DVDs and books available, a bottle of wine and shortbread on arrival. The scenery, just yards from the house is stunning, and the locals are really friendly as they go about their business. Being from the Highlands myself and now returning 15 years later, this was a delightful return to an unexplored area, and where it is all about the unspoilt scenery and location. Highly recommended if you love the views, the peacefulness and the coastal walks on your doorstep. Will be telling all our family and friends to make this in their bucket list of places to be!! Thank you so much from us!

Fishermans Cottage was cosy and comfortable for our recent stay in Cromarty. Ideal for my husband and I as we were visiting our families who live in the village. Ideal location to walk to restaurants, etc and of course the shoreline. The cottage was very well appointed and all your needs were covered, especially for kitchen equipment - the welcome pack of a bottle of wine and shortbread was a pleasant surprise after a long journey from Kent. We would not hesitate to recommend the cottage and hope to stay there again in the future.

Everything was outstanding and we were very comfortable. There was nothing that we needed. The cottage is in great shape and very clean. Even under the sinks! I do have a suggestion and I make it only because if I don't there is no way for the managers to know. The area rug in the kitchen needs to be tossed. It is dirty and worn out. The area rug in the bathroom and sitting room need to be cleaned. The love seats and pillows need cleaning as well. They smell like sweaty people. I used the febreeze and it helped some but they just need cleaning. Also the throws on the beds and love seats. They all seemed to need dry cleaning and I'm sure that is a big task. Please don't be offended. If I were managing this place I would want to know. I fell in love with the cottage and wished it were mine. I am lucky to have stayed there even for awhile.

Thank you for taking the time to review Fisherman's Cottage. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay in this lovely part of the Black Isle. We have passed your suggestions on to the owners.

Location

Cromarty is a beautiful conservation village - much of the development of the town was in the early 18th century and there is a real sense of history and tranquillity as the village has been unspoiled by modern architecture.
Around a 35 minute drive to Inverness or Dingwall.
