Dear little Freyja

Freyja is a dear little cottage, felt friendly & welcoming. Wonderful quiet location over looking the sea, nice big garden & bench. So relaxing to watch birds & seals feeding,as well as all the boats coming & going. Stunning sunsets over Harris & Lewis. Great location away from hustle & bustle, but only a short drive to Gairloch for essentials.Wonderful beaches nearby & lighthouse walk. Heating by one night storage heater adequate but was overpriced, I think there's a fault with the radio timer. An electric shower would be much better than emersion heater. Lounge a bit too dark to read, any chance of a reading lamp? Otherwise well equipped.

Having stayed at Freya for a week we had lovely time. The cottage is in a great location for touring the Highlands. Wonderful scenery and cottage was lovely. We would go back again. Some nice eating places and coffee shops in Gairloch. Well worth a visit.

Comfortable cottage for two with excellent position and views, just a few minutes walk to the beach. Lovely to drive around the north west of Scotland - majestic scenery - waterfalls, gorges and white sand beaches. Brilliant rib ride with Hebridean boats from Gairloch harbour - with short beaked dolphins for ages, got great video. Highly recommended.
Lovely Freyja. Cosy, comfy with views to die for.

We had a lovely stay at Freyja cottage. The location was amazing and the views stunning. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a hideaway from the busyness of life.
My Dear Elderly Aunt

Freyja, like my beloved Aunt Ida, is not young or fresh or perky. She is a little worn around the edges, and has abandoned any pretense toward trendiness or fashionability. But she is superbly comfortable, warm, homey and welcoming. Her kitchen is very good, and she provides wonderful warm duvets on the beds. Her view out onto the Minch and across to Skye is absolutely delightful, especially when savored from the deck. Beware, though, if you are tall: my 5' 10" husband had to move carefully about the bedroom to keep from klonking himself. There is no nightlife in Melvaig (!). But we were much too worn out from hiking and rock climbing to mind that. Gairloch, 10 miles away, was perfectly adequate for this purpose and for purchasing supplies. Frank Buckley did us one big favor he emphatically did not have to do: On Sunday, he brought us an item we had had shipped from Edinburgh. Big thumbs up for customer service! We very much enjoyed our visit with the old girl.

This is the perfect get away cottage, very cosy and very well equipped. It provides an excellent base to explore this part of Scotland.

We thought the cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. The little criticisms we had were that we thought we could have done with another light on the side of the sofa so that we could read more easily and the armchair was big and cumbersome to move when we were eating at the table.
Freyja is located in the traditional crofting village of Melvaig, 10 miles from Gairloch.
