A lovely relaxing comfortable holiday in beautiful surroundings. Raasay is a super house in its own grounds providing all the home comforts you could wish for. It is well equipped and spotlessly maintained by Frank and Dianne who go the extra mile to ensure your stay is enjoyable and trouble free. The location is spectacular with extensive sea views across to Skye and beyond, the sunsets are beautiful and there is much to see in the way of wildlife in the sea, on land and in the air. An ideal place to enjoy the west coast of Scotland or just to relax as your mood takes you, we shall definitely return.
A wonderful place to stay

We have 2 fantastic weeks at Raasay, even if the weather was not always great! But with such stunning views and plenty to do in the surrounding area it didnt matter. The house is very well equipped and feels warm and cosy. Like many others we saw deer, otters and had an incredible close encounter with a white tailed eagle! Would love to come back again soon. Looking forward to the wales

A very lovely experience of living by the Ocean, immersed in the quite unique environment of the Highlands. We've appreciated a lot the common sensibility for the land naturalistic aspects. A little too complicate the booking management.
wonderful week at Raasay cottage

The description of Raasay cottage on the internet was correct. No surprises, except for the ever changing views from our window or garden. As they were wonderful AND the reason we choose Raasay cottage you won't hear us complaining! The cottage was clean, the furnishing excellent including more than enough information about the cottage and things to do in the area, thanks to the owners Frank and Dianne! We loved the peace and quiet and enjoyed the 20 minutes-drive on the single track road to the cottage. As much as we would like to see another part of Scotland, it's not unthinkable we will book this lovely cottage again!

The cottage and situation were excellent. Wonderful views of Skye and Harris and total privacy. The cottage is at the end of a 10 mile single track road going along the sea coast. We were a little niggled by having to provide our own linen and towels - we were after all paying almost £500 for a weeks stay and we had to pay for the electricity which I felt was a little parsimonious. We also had to pay a deposit of £60 to assure our good behaviour which I found demeaning. However we enjoyed the week but are unlikely to return. Others will enjoy the cottage and may not be annoyed by the conditions

This is the first time we have stayed on the West Coast mainland of Scotland and enjoyed the holiday immensely. The cottage had everything you need for a holiday and even though the weather was against us it didn't matter as we still got out and about. Having previously visited the Scottish Islands many times we are well used to experiencing more than one season during a day! Being wildlife lovers it was lovely to see a seal in the sea as we arrived at the cottage and as we were out and about during the week we managed to see four Sea Eagles, Red Kites, Artic and Great Skuas and many other birds too numerous to mention. All in all we really enjoyed the week and would recommend the cottage as a place to stay.

The location of the cottage is outstanding with uninterrupted views out to sea. Internally the cottage is of a high standard and Is well equipped for a great break. Comfortable beds and a great shower added to our enjoyment and the spacious lounge meant we never felt cramped and with four windows the outlook was really good. Now we have returned home I really miss waking up to a view of the sea so I will need to return sometime!!

Situated on a single track road, this cottage has everything needed. We found the oven a bit difficult to use and the central heating complicated. We had a very comfortable stay and we recommend it highly.

After the initial shock of the single track road and stunning views we arrived at Raasay to find a lovely bungalow with breath taking views and its own private gate to the beach. The place has everything you could ever need [apart from the binoculars which seemed to give double vision] for a week away. If you are into walking then the walk from the cottage to the lighthouse and then to Camas Mor is worth the trek [about 10 miles] to just sit and watch the local wild life. The local amenities in Gairloch cover everything you need including a Fish and Chip shop and a couple of supermarkets along with coffee shops.

The cottage was very comfortable and in a brilliant position.Had an enjoyable weeks stay. Was spoilt by,when told £10 had been withheld for extra cleaning, we asked why.Was given a list of what was not left clean,at least two things listed would not have been left by us i.e.the toilet brush was left in a disgusting state-we did not even notice the brush let alone use it and leave it dirty. We were also told the bed cover was left"out of place, and crumbs all over them.I informed the lady we did not,nor do we ever at home, have food in the bedroom. We very much object to being blamed, and charged for something we know was not our doing. We have stayed in many cottages and never had this problem before. One would presume if a cleaner is due to come in when we leave we should not have to do a full, thorough clean before leaving--is leaving crumbs on the toaster considered extra cleaning for the cleaner? Would consider it polite if the owner said sorry to us for telling us we left the bed a mess and toilet brush in a bad way when we know this was not our doing. If an owner wants the place left completely ready for the next guest they should either state this on the rules, explaining in detail or just charge extra on the fee for the cottage.

This is a great place to stay. Beautiful, clean and in a priviledged location. On top of that, Dianne and Frank (the owners) make you feel very welcome! They even phoned me before we got there to advise about the challenging weather conditions! I would definitively like to come back to this place.

Our third time at this property and its has yet to let us down. Frank consistently delivers a superior property with spectacular views over the Minch. Even the local wildlife puts on a show for you and the local croft animals escort you along the road. i have stayed in several 4 star self catering cottages but none have shown the same standard of maintenance cleanliness and service as frank delivers in melvaig.
