Glen Dael in Dornoch, great vacation rental when visiting Dornoch to see friends and family, for golfing at Royal Dornoch or touring and exploring Sutherland and the Scottish Highlands.

The house has been completely refurbished to a high standard and very well equipped to provide warm comfortable accommodation at any time of year. It is mostly double glazed. The large enclosed garden comprises lawns, borders, a few trees and a sunny patio and is gradually being planted to encourage birds and butterflies.

Lounge:  Front facing with broad window; 2 partly leather sofas (3 and 2 seater), 2 upholstered chairs, reclaimed oak sideboard and coffee table, LCD TV with DVD player, CD player with iPod dock, central and wall lighting. Selection of books, games, DVDs, CDs, jigsaws and maps; also, comprehensive tourist information.

Kitchen/diner:  Sunny with 2 windows overlooking patio and rear garden; fitted with modern solid oak fronted units incorporating electric hob, oven and grill, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster. Dining table and 6 chairs. Extensive selection of pots and pans, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils.

Utility room:  Washing machine/drier, additional tumble drier, cloaks cupboard

Master bedroom:  King-size bed, bedside cabinets, wardrobe, chest of drawers, WHB

Double bedroom:  Double bed, bedside cabinet, wardrobe, chest of drawers.

Twin bedroom:  2 single beds, bedside cabinets, wardrobe, chest of drawers, chair

Bathroom:  Bath with shower over, WHB and WC

Garage:  affords bicycle storage.

Private off street parking for 3 cars

Garden – fully enclosed with sunny patio area, lawns, borders and some trees.  Patio furniture available NOTE- there are several steps to front and back doors

Other information – Oil fired central heating & double glazing.

All bed linen, towels, electricity, heating oil and parking are included in the price.

The holiday home is stocked with a starter supply of washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls and other kitchen and bathroom supplies.

There are a number of restaurants, bars and shops in Dornoch.

Food shops: There is a Co-op and a convenience store in Dornoch. The Co-op is usually open until 10pm. Tesco, Asda and Lidl supermarkets are in Tain which is a few miles south of Dornoch.

Restaurants: Luigi’s on Castle Street, Sutherland House, Links House, The Eagle Hotel, a few others also.

Pubs: The Dornoch Inn, The Eagle Hotel, Castle Whisky Bar & Bistro, a few others.

Takeaway food: Chinese, Indian, Harry Gow bakers.

A travel cot (own bed linen required) is available.

Cancellation policy – 25% of the total rental is charged on the day of booking to confirm your booking with the final 75% as well as a refundable damage deposit due no later than 6 weeks before arrival. There is a 24-hour cooling off period after your booking is placed where you may cancel free of charge after that you will be required to pay the full rental amount if you cancel.

Cancellation protection policy is available during booking or before the final balance payment is made.

    Well equipped, well placed and comfortable accommodation in an excellent location. Will definitely book again. There were only two of us but there was plenty of room for six adults.

    Glen Dael is very well equipped and comfortable with everything one would need for a comfortable holiday. It has a good position with easy access to all parts of Dornoch. The garden is one of its main attractions although the weather this year meant we couldn't take advantage of it!

    The house was immaculate land very well equipped. Tthe only small quibble we have is a lack of a mirror above the washhand basin in the main bedroom. Apart from that everything was absolutely superb.

    A good no-frills house to explore the lovely town of Dornoch and its surroundings. Very comfortable, slept well. Short walk from the centre of town. Very happy.

    We booked this property for American friends travelling to assist with our church Easter camp. Accommodation location was key with it being within walking distance of both Dornoch town centre and also the schools, where camp was being held. Accommodation was comfortable and clean, and layout suited our needs perfectly. Rooms were spacious, clean and tidy, and neighbourhood quiet.

    We spent 4 nights at Glen Dael whilst helping our daughter and son-in-law to put in a new kitchen in their house just a few minutes walk away. We stayed there in April last year, were delighted with the location and the fact that the house had everything we needed, so decided to book again this year. Looking forward to our next visit when we hope to have more time to explore the area better. Coat hooks inside the front door would be an improvement.

    We arrived in daylight but found the key safe a little bit difficult and had to ring the contact who solved the difficulty. After that everything was great. The house is very clean, comfortable, convenient and well fitted-out. The kitchen in particular had everything one could want in perfect working order. The heating was good and easy to operate and the bathroom had a very good shower although a grab rail would have been a bonus for those less steady on their feet. The beds were on the hard side but fine and all bedding and towels were of good quality. The birds outside were a joy and we saw one we had never seen before, a goldfinch. The location in Dornoch is lovely. The town combines an unspoilt and quiet character with modern conveniences. The shops between them sell most things. It is an excellent centre from which to tour the area, the coastline and loch are delightful and we saw seals at low tide which is, apparently, common. The TV reception is a bit patchy but watchable and I personally would have paid extra for wi-fi. All in all we had a great week and would recommend the house to others.

    Nice location and very homely. Wi fi unfortunely not available and tele very small. We loved Dornoch and this bungalow was perfectly placed for us and the kitchen had plenty of utensils etc for cooking. There were four of us but with six don't think we would have coped with only 1 toilet. plenty of parking, very clean and everyone very helpful

    The only one thing i thought would imrove our stay would be a second toilet there is a good bathroom with an excellent shower.parking is excellent for 3 cars would reccommend this to friends and relatives.

    For our two operative that were away for a week and needed accommodation this was perfect. It was in easy walking distance to all the local pubs/restaurants and our operatives were extremely impressed with accommodations room and cleanliness.

    Being close to centre of Dornoch yet set in lovely gardens with no other property looking directly at them is great. Everything a family would need is provided including dishwasher, washing machine and even buckets and spades for the beach! The only missing item is WIFI - we found this much longed for and it was exacerbated by the poor mobile reception. If 3 areas were improved it would warrant top marks across the board: 1. WiFi. 2. A 2nd toilet (one for 6 people not enough) 3. Rear step/ ledge dangerous. Suggestions also to replace double bed (uncomfortable) and French doors/ decking from dining room which would enhance experience of beautiful gardens and allow more airflow into property. Overall a very enjoyable holiday in a wonderful setting and an "almost" perfect home. We would return especially if WiFi / 2nd toilet in place. Recommend both the property and Dornoch.

    We felt that this house was ideal in every way for a family holiday. It was very well equipped with plenty of towels and linen and plenty of kitchen utensils, crockery etc. The garden and garden furniture were great and our 5 1/2 year old grandson had a wonderful time feeding and watching the birds. The location is great with the 'short cut' into the town. The only thing that slightly marred things (and this was only because of Wimbledon and the World Cup) is that the television did not work properly. We reported it and followed the advice we were given and it did help a bit. Wi-Fi would have helped as my son had to keep in touch while he was there but these are minor niggles. Overall it is a perfect holiday home and we would willingly return and also would recommend it to others.

    We have stayed in this house before and really enjoyed it so returned. The place is always clean and tidy with all the supplies you could need. Close to all the local emenities and parking. We really enjoyed out second stay and will hopefully be visiting again in the future.

    Very Nice stay at Glen Dael. Very spacious house, lots of space and very well equipped. Would definitely recommend to friends. Lovely little village and plenty to do around for Golf or Nature lovers.


Location

The house is within walking distance of Dornoch town centre (via a footpath accessed from the garden) with its cafes, restaurants and shops, as well as cathedral, award-winning beach and championship links golf course.
