We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable house very much. It has the best equipped kitchen and most comfortable beds we have come across in all our stays in holiday rentals. A real home from home! The welcome pack of local goodies from Peter and Marilyn was much appreciated. The views from the sun lounge over the Cromarty Firth at sunset were amazing and great to photograph. Cromarty is an excellent centre with lots of local history and we had interesting trips to Dunrobin, Inverness and the Pictish Trail. We hope to return and thoroughly recommend Harbour View.

Our family had a great holiday at Harbour View. We found the accommodation extremely comfortable and loved sitting in the little sun room overlooking the bay. We enjoyed meals at the Royal Hotel and Souters Creek which is located over the road. Cromarty bakery and the Cheese Shop are well worth a visit. We spent a great day at the Black Isle Show also had a good day out at Landmark, Dunrobin Castle and Dornoch. The welcome pack from Marion & Peter was much appreciated.

Holiday at Harbour View in Cromarty was excellent. Very quirky style inside the house and the garden was perfect for watching the world go by at the Harbour. Lots of wee extras make you feel very welcome. We definitely plan to book this house again.

We had an enjoyable stay in Harbour View cottage which was clean and comfortable. It is a particularly well equipped cottage and had everything we needed. The little sun room is a delight to sit in and watch the comings and goings of the harbour and the sea. The bed was comfortable as were the dining room chairs and the sitting room seating.

A lovely cottage with everything you need for a comfortable self catering holiday. Some lovely food gifts left by the owner Marilyn for our arrival. The only downside was the 'very' shared back area which we we were not aware of, as I do not believe this was mentioned in any of the property details.

What can we say but what a fantastic place to stay. The back lounge area is great , just to see the constant changing weather over the harbour was brilliant. The house was clean and inviting it had everything you could need. Also to Marilyn and Peter who left us a lovely welcome package of bacon, eggs, etc and also gave us a ring when we arrived and left it was a lovely touch. Great Holiday so impressed we booked for next year while there can not wait to go back. Carol

On arrival frontage looks like your average town house row of houses but once you are inside it feels quirky but very homely and comfortable with a nautical themed decor. You are greeted with a welcome pack plus lots of other extras such as bath robes & bath sheets as well as the usual hand & bath towels. The kitchen is well equiped and leads through to a rear sitting/viewing room with a superb view of the harbour & Cromerty Firth. There is a deceivingly large rear garden overlooking the harbour & a rear exit which takes you out directly opposite the Royal Hotel bar & other eating establishments. The bedrooms are very comfortable & well equiped & although small the bathrooms are adequate for your needs. We found this a very quiet & relaxing place to stay with plenty of local attractions to investigate & splendid walks where you can look for wildlife & dolphins in the Firth..

The owners met us when we arrived, explained all necessary aspects of the house and were generally very helpful and friendly. The house was delightful, well equipped, comfortable and in a great harbourside location. We hadn't visited the Black Isle before and all enjoyed our visit here very much. We would certainly return, and cannot recommend the property highly enough.

We had a wonderful week in this cottage. The whole ambience of the cottage was welcoming and it proved to be a lovely retreat on the few occasions when the weather was not so good. All I can say is that everything worked for us and we really felt at home. In particular we spent most of our time when we there in the back room overlooking the harbour and the sea. It proved a good centre for touring and we always enjoyed coming back to the island. Very sad to leave at the end of the holiday, which is a good test of how much we enjoyed our stay.

  • One of our best holidays
    5 OUT OF 5
Submitted on 18/07/2016 by Lorraine from Maybole

A great place to spend a holiday, the view from the sun lounge is different every time you look, whatever the weather it is a joy to just be there. Our ages ranged from a 'nearly' 3 year old, to a 'fittish' 80 + , and the house suited us all. On arrival there was some delicious fresh bread (from nearby bakery), and some lovely cheese (from the nearby Cheese shop), plus a very nice bottle of wine. Every comfort had been provided for, furnishings were good quality, it was brilliant having a washing machine, and a tumble dryer! Beds were sooo comfortable! The shore was just a few minutes walk, and the town was easily accessible. Ice cream from 'Coupers Creek' is a must. We all agreed that this holiday, for us, was relaxing, peaceful, and re-charged our 'batteries', somewhere we would definitely want to return to.

Charmingly, eclectically furnished holiday home, it was a real home from home. Everything you could possibly need was provided, including a delicious food box left by the owners. The house easily accommodated 5 adults, with plenty of space. The view of the harbour and Cromarty Firth was great and was a lovely way to relax in the evening. Cromarty itself is a gorgeous place and a great place to explore the Black Isle.

Lovely property, very well equipped and perfect for what we needed. We were made to feel very welcome with some basic provision left for our arrival - this was really appreciated as we'd had a 10 hour drive to get there! As a group of 4 adults, the cottage allowed us plenty of space and comfort but in a lovely setting. The locals in the hotel/bar over the road were fab and made us feel very welcome as we joined in with the pub quiz, open mic night and New Years Day dip in the Cromarty Firth!! If only the oil rig currently 'parked' in the firth could be moved, the view from the sun room window would have been even better, but we were informed the rigs move in and out of the bay so it might be gone for the next occupants. The quality of furnishings, linens and equipment such as cooking utensils, electrical items was excellent and as a family who like to cook this was really appreciated. We did have an issue with the heating on the first day but this is where the owner excelled - we had a plumber round within the hour! Thanks for a lovely stay - we definitely recommend this cottage!

Our family of five and our dog had a great stay at Harbour View No. 4 in Cromarty. The house is beautifully furnished, warm and spactious. Plenty of room for all of us. My husband and I especially enjoyed sitting in the sun room overlooking the harbour. The owners, Marilyn & Peter, very kindly left us some treats from the local bakery & shop. It was great to be able to walk around the town to visit the local shops and cafes/restaurants/pubs. The park & beach are just a few minutes walk from the house and there is a great walk to Sutor's point which took a couple of hours. We enjoyed visiting Chanonory Point and saw the dolphins. We also went to two RSPB centres nearby which were great. We hope to go back again as we really liked the area and there's lots to see and do. Thanks Marilyn & Peter for making us feel at home!

This is a delightful holiday property. It's attractive and comfortable and has good heating and everything you need for a pleasant stay. It's close to a local hotel, The Royal, which does good meals. Cromarty is a lovely venue and excellent for dog walking. The only drawback to the property is that the garden is not secure to let a large dog out off lead (he can climb the walls!) although the upside is you get to see lovely sunrises on an early dog walk.

The house was everything we could have hoped for and more. We were in Cromarty for a family wedding and this well laid out and superbly equipped home provided a focal point for the rest of the family to visit our elderly mother and her youngest great grandchild. Many thanks to Marilyn for the attention to detail.

Harbour View is a beautiful home in a fabulous location. The view from the Harbour View room was amazing - just the place to sit and relax and watch the sun go down, although you can equally well do this on the patio just outside the Harbour View room. The house was a real home from home with everything we could have asked for, and a lot of thought has gone in to ensuring that visitors can settle in quickly. The welcome pack was one of the best we have ever had - bread, milk, butter, bacon, eggs, sausages, black pudding, and a bottle of wine to wash it down with. It was all very much appreciated. The house is in an excellent situation for the local facilities too, with the Royal Hotel and the Sutor Creek Cafe just across the road, and the bakery, post office and small supermarket just a couple of hundred yards up the street. There are some lovely walks around Cromarty, and we also enjoyed the bird watching at Udale Bay and can highly recommend the Ecoventures tour if you want to do some dolphin spotting. We are hoping to be back at Harbour View again.

we had a 7 hour drive to get to the holiday home, and my daughter said it was like "Love at first sight" it was very clean and quiet, there was Bacon & Eggs in the fridge awaiting us as well as coffee, tea etc, The rooms were very comfortable and spacious with views of the harbour, and we hardly heard the seagulls outside. the beds were soft and comfortable, and the "Harbour" room was a chill out space I think every home should have. all in all a VERY relaxing holiday home, good value for the money, and would we recommend it to any one else ? No we would like to keep it to ourselves, but that wont happen so YES we would recommend it, and maybe be back in the near future. it's seconds walk to the first pub, and the Cromarty Bakery is just up the street, their cakes are to die for.

This was our first visit to Cromarty and the Black Isle and Harbour View was the perfect base. The house is lovely and has everything you need, including a washing machine and dryer which are not mentioned on the booking site. We spent a lot of our time in the back room watching the ever changing view of the harbour. Sadly we didn't see and Dolphins at Charnory Point but maybe next time.
