Comfort was rated “good” only because the shower ceiling was too low for our 6 foot golf son. Also, not having WiFi was inconvenient but more importantly, our cell phone reception was very poor. For safety reasons (house fire, injury, etc.) a land line telephone is a necessity.

  • Very good only let down by problems with plumbing and heating.

Nice house with good quality fixtures/fittings with the exception of the bathroom which is in need of updating and redecorating. The central heating system wasn't working properly, sometimes not at all, and the water pressure was so low that occasionally no water came out of the upstairs taps at all. The toilet handle needed pumping three times before it flushed. Sandra, the housekeeper, very kindly provided heaters so we were kept warm and having advised her of the problems we understand she is arranging for a plumber to attend the property. A few more plates, cups and saucers etc would also we helpful especially if four people are staying. Would recommend once above issues sorted out.

Have just had a great weeks stay here...lots to do in the surrounding area and centrally located for travelling the Highlands. Cottage itself is lovely and has everything you need. Would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay in the cottage. We liked the style of furnishings and particularly liked the extremely comfortable bed with lovely linen and soft pillows. The cottage is in a pleasant situation near the square and very quiet. The bathroom was a bit chilly for my liking and there was no mirror in upstairs bedroom to see to dry my hair.

This is my fourth stay at DB. Again it was very comfortable, clean and warm. I liked the king sized bed instead of the two singles for a great nights sleep. The location is superb for all activities in Dornoch but it is quiet enough to be relaxing. My only criticism is that some of the wood work on the porch is staring to need some attention. It's only cosmetic, but on approach to the front if you've not been before it looks a little tatty. Still this doesn't detract from a truly super holiday cottage.

  • A great place to stay and enjoy the Scottish Highlands in a wonderful cottage

This is a beautiful cottage with lovely Scottish fabrics and furnishings. It was warm and cosy and the kitchen was adequately equipped. The town of Dornoch is a great place with a lovely café and whiskey shop, take away food shops and pubs where you can eat or just have a drink. It is also a good central point for visiting this part of Scotland.

  • Another excellent holiday

This was my second stay in a year at Dun Brae. Again the cottage was clean, tastefully appointed and the garden a delight to sit in of a sunny evening. There is everything you need for a comfortable, hassle free stay. Well equipped kitchen, cosy lounge and excellent position for the beach, town and golf course. Just one point of note is that if you are very tall the upstairs bedroom and shower/bath can be a challenge, but then it is part of the character of the cottage. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.

We were advised a week before our holiday date that the boiler had broken and it would not be operational 3 electric heaters were installed downstairs however the weather was cold and the bedrooms were very cold and we had to put extra coats and our blanket on the beds to keep warm. The bedroom downstairs had to be made up on arrival and I was under the impression that both bedrooms were upstairs. The Wi-Fi did not work and although the housekeeper said she would phone on the Tuesday to check all was ok no call was made.. Even though I have mentioned the above we still enjoyed our stay and the housekeeper was very pleasant and full of apology because she did not phone.

I had the perfect holiday in Dun Brae cottage, it was just as it looked on the photos and more than lived up to expectations. It was immaculately clean, everything you could want was provided and the gadgets in the property were high spec, easy to use and worked. The cottage was furnished to a very high standard, I had a warm welcome and could contact the house keeper easily at any time to query anything. The only slight inconvenience was the low height of the shower but this was very minor in the overall quality of the accommodation. Location excellent for the village centre, beach and golf course. Am looking at dates to return already.

Excellent cottage. Lovely warm welcome. Comfortable well equipped property, with beautiful Anta fabrics throughout. 2 minutes walk to the beach or town centre where there are an excellent selection of restaurants ( the castle inn and the royal golf hotel both serving delicious food, with great service). The front of the house gives a view to the village, very quiet and a great sun trap. Would definitely like to return,

Cottage is situated in an ideal position close to the centre of Dornoch and within a short walking distance of all amenities e.g. shops, beach and golf course. It met all our requirements and if we return to Dornoch for a week's break we would certainly attempt to stay at Dun Brae again

  • A week is not enough.

Location excellent for the village and the beach, plenty of room for car parking. There is a patio at the front of the house where you can sit relax and watch the world go by. Also from Dornoch you can go coast to coast, from Dornoch to Ullapool, and plenty of other places nearby.

Dun Brae Cottage is central to Dornoch town centre. The cottage is a 2 minutes walk from the Golf course. Fine Dornoch Holiday Accommodation. Ideal Dornoch Golf Accommodation.
