This comfortable and fully equipped two bedroom cottage is located three miles from the historic market town of Dornoch, with lovely views of the surrounding area. Situated in a peaceful and quiet location, within walking distance of Skelbo Wood and the Loch Fleet Nature Reserve, the cottage is an ideal base for exploring the countryside and coastline of the Dornoch area or simply unwinding in tranquil surroundings.

The cottage has an enclosed garden with a patio and there is a rear storage room which provides a secure location for bikes, golf and fishing equipment.

The Loch Fleet Nature Reserve is within walking distance of the cottage, where common seals regularly bask on the sandbars at low tide and you can enjoy watching a wide range of wildfowl and wading birds. There are regular sightings of osprey hunting in the reserve, and the sand dunes and coastal heath are also rich in wild flowers.

Skelbo Wood is a lovely place to walk nearby, with carved wooden animals designed by local children, and the remains of a 2000 year old broch.

The local hotel is one mile from the cottage which provides both restaurant and bar facilities. A variety of evening entertainment is available during the summer locally at "Grannies Heilan Hame" in Embo. The cottage is within three miles of Dornoch with its shops, hotels and restaurants, beautiful sandy beach and the Royal Dornoch Golf Course.

Other golf courses in the area include The Struie (also at Dornoch), Golspie, Brora, Strathpeffer, Tain, Fortrose and Bonar Bridge. For mountain bilking enthusiasts there are the ‘Highland Wildcat Trails’, built on side of Ben Bhraggie, which features black and red graded routes from the summit of the hill down to the village of Golspie. This includes the longest single track descent in the UK at around 7km.

The West and North coasts of the Highlands are easily accessible on day trips and Inverness lies 45 miles to the south. Dunrobin Castle and Gardens, visible from the cottage, is a 20 minute drive north. There are also two whisky distilleries in the area.

It was really spacious with stunning views. Great for children, our 7 year old daughter loved playing in the garden and seeing to sheep close by. Lock Fleet had plenty of wildlife to see and the seals. Dornoch and Embo had great beachs. Dunrobin Castle worth a visit and the gardens are beautiful. Also Parkdean Grannie's Heilan Hame let us use their facilities, a small fee for swimming. Trentham hotel at the top of road did nice food. Added bonus was the weather was great while there. All in all great holiday.

The accommodation is in a great location and we really enjoyed our stay. The quality of the accommodation was great too. I would also like to thank the owner for returning some property which was left in the cottage.

Robert, Glossop : 29th May, 2014

The cottage was situated far enough away from other dwellings to be private. Dornoch is only a few miles away and provided us with all our shopping needs for the week. Although the weather was not very good we found plenty to do and would certainly return to Skelbo
