Red Kite Cottage

Red Kite Cottage

This Scandinavian style redwood pine log cabin, named after the Red Kites that are frequently sighted there, is situated close to Munlochy on the Black Isle. The fully-insulated log cabin offers spacious, comfortable self-catering accommodation just 6 miles north of Inverness, with an open plan layout, outside decking area and enclosed garden.

There is an abundance of wildlife in the fertile farmland of the Black Isle – ideal for birdwatchers and wildlife watchers. Bottlenose dolphins can often be spotted in the Moray Firth, with nearby Chanonry Point beside the Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Course a popular spot for dolphin watching.

The cottage is ideally located for exploring the scenic Black Isle and its historic villages such as Fortrose and Cromarty. Attractions such as lovely Rosemarkie Beach, the Black Isle Wildlife Park and the famous Black Isle Brewery are all on your doorstep. The picturesque village of Cromarty, at the tip of the Black Isle, has a historic conservation area with cobbled streets and listed 18th century buildings, and is home to tour operator EcoVentures (who offer wildlife watching boat trips in the Moray Firth).

Red Kite Cottage is also a great base for touring the Highlands and within easy reach of Easter Ross, the award-winning beaches and stunning landscapes of Wester Ross and Sutherland, the spectacular mountains in Torridon and the Beinn Eighe Nature Reserve. To the south you’ll find Inverness, with its shops, restaurants and leisure amenities, Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle, and the Cairngorms National Park. It is a short drive from Inverness to Culloden Battlefield, the long sandy beach at Nairn and the historic Cawdor Castle.

Whether you are interested in hill-walking or biking on the many local routes, golfing, outdoor adventure, Nessie-spotting or simply unwinding in beautiful surroundings, Red Kite Cottage is perfect for an active or relaxing Highland holiday.

The cottage was excellent. Spotlessly clean, very well equipped, cosy, and the secure enclosed garden was a bonus to us for the dogs. The welcome goodies were much appreciated. We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful and peaceful part of the country. Next time we are planning a holiday in the area, we'll be back to Red Kite Cottage.
