Rosehip Cottage

Rosehip Cottage

A Traditional former crofters cottage nestling under the Trotternish Ridge on the North East side of the island, just a few minutes drive from the shore where among other wildlife otters and seals can often be observed.

This cottage is in a wonderful location for water sports and other outdoor pursuits with an established outdoor center a couple of miles up the coast. Rambling, hill walking, climbing and fishing are just some of the activities to enjoy from this cottage.

The township of Digg where the cottage is located is a small community of white washed cottages, it is one of many in the equally friendly and scenic district of Staffin. Digg offers wonderful views over to Staffin Island and beyond. On a clear day you will be able to see the magnificent hills of Wester Ross across the water. Staffin is also renowned for its beautiful sandy beach.

Coming inland you have the famous Trotternish Ridge and if your lucky you might see a golden Eagle souring above, this area has become very popular with hill walkers and tourists who are in awe of the stunning scenery.

If you were feeling adventurous you could take the ferry from the Port of Uig to the outer Hebrides for a day excursion, Uig is only 20 minutes drive from Digg and there is a regular twice daily sailing.

Fossils and Dinosaur footprints have been discovered in Staffin and the wider Trotternish area where they can be viewed down by the shore when the tide is out so a visit to the local fossil museum is one not to be missed. The Jurassic landscape of the Trotternish Peninsula is rich in interest for geologists. Sites such as the Mealt Waterfall which drops 300ft into the sea are worth a visit. Last but not least we have the Old Man of Storr which is a 160ft Pillar that dominates the surrounding landscape overlooking Loch Fada increasingly used by movie makers and television for its stunning and unusual scenery.

Spectacular scenery, peaceful walks, and a chance to really relax make this holiday destination really desirable.
