Freyja

In a tranquil location, ideal for a relaxing holiday, Freyja has splendid views of the sea and islands, particularly from the extensive decking area in front of the house. The beach and jetty are a short walk away and the highly recommended Melvaig Inn is close to the beach and is open 6 days in the season.

Marine life sightings of whales, dolphins, otters and basking sharks are a regular feature, and for an even closer look, boat trips are available from Gairloch including visits to the Shiant Islands to see the puffin colonies. Gairloch also has shops, hotels, restaurants, garage, pony trekking, Heritage museum, golf course and Leisure Centre and nearby Poolewe has an indoor swimming pool.

Many coastal and hill walks in close proximity, including the amazing sand dunes at Red Point beach. The Beinn Eighe Nature Reserve and mountains are a short drive away, as is also the 14 mile long Loch Maree, with its many islands and Viking graves, which can be visited by boat.

The cottage was spotless, there was everything that I needed, plus a few things that I didn't expect to be there which was a plus. The view from the lounge/kitchen windows was stunning. The remoteness, lack of mobile signal made it a very relaxing, stress free holiday, which is exactly what I needed. I intend to return to Freya and in the not to distance future.

The cottage was very clean and spacious and fully stocked with all necessary things required.

Freyja and Melvaig turned out to be a real sanctuary and underlined our need to find somewhere more peaceful to live. Having the opportunity to do some sea swimming - checking out the crabs was great. We walked over the moor behind Melvaig and saw livards. We saw eagles down on the little beach between Melvaig and Gairloch - well, we actually say two crows (or ravens?) chase off a couple of eagles from their patch. We did some climbing over at Gruinard Bay and walked up to the waterfall near there. I want to thank you for making Freyja such a good place to make home in for a wee.

The cottage was clean, well equipped and comfortable. The area was absolutely beautiful, the views from the front windows were breathtaking. On a clear day we could see our beloved Skye. I especially liked being able to lie in bed at night and look at the stars through the skylight. There is so little light pollution that the stars look so much closer and brighter than in South Wales. Maybe we were a little closer to Heaven! It certainly felt like it. All in all it was a very relaxing holiday. Many thanks.

First holiday away from the offspring in 2 years. Fantastic weather and lots of beautiful walks. The highlight again has been Frejya - cosy, well equipped and a view to die for.
